Occupational Therapy

Play with a variety of sensory motor equipment is at the essence of every task. Family involvement is encouraged for best carryover.

Kid Eating Snack

Feeding Therapy

Assessment is made of the child's oral motor skill including lips, tongue and jaw, as well as the child's overall sensory processing and its impact on food textures and tastes.

Picky eaters are encouraged to explore food through play.  Food offerings are selected to target sensory and oral motor development.  Children learn the developmental steps to mealtime in a non threatening way.

Areas Addressed in OT

Children's skills are assessed in the following areas. Treatment plans are developed to meet each child where they are at, while challenging them to progress through a bottom-up approach.

  • Sensory Integration

  • Reflex Integration

  • Self-Regulation

  • Executive Functioning

  • Feeding

  • Balance, Strength, Coordination and Body Awareness (Examples:  Toe Walking, Torticollis)

  • Fine-Motor Coordination (Example: Handwriting)

  • Ocular Motor Skills (Example: Hand-Eye Coordination)

We are Specially Trained in the Following Programs

1

SOS Feeding

The SOS approach to feeding stands for Sequential-Oral-Sensory.  It uses developmental progression of skills to build up children's tolerance with a variety of foods.

2

Rhythmic Movement Training

Rhythmic Movement Training is a movement based, primitive reflex integration program, which uses exercises to improve a child's sensory, motor and emotional development.

3

Astronaut Training

Astronaut Training is a therapeutic protocol designed to improve vestibular processing, while also working on visual tracking and overall sensory processing and movement control.

4

Integrated Listening Systems

ILS is a multi-sensory listening program using music and movement to support brain integration and skill-building.

Music is delivered via air and bone conduction headphones, providing auditory input to the brain and sensory input to the body.

5

Handwriting Without Tears

HWT is a multi-sensory approach to handwriting.  Following a developmental sequence, fine motor and visual motor skills are practiced through fun and interactive activities.

6

Deep Pressure Proprioceptive Technique

DPPT is a brushing technique using tactile and proprioceptive (deep pressure input) to help the brain organize sensory input.

7

Bal-A-Vis-X

Bal-A-Vis-X uses beanbags and balls exercises to address visual tracking, auditory processing, impulsivity, and balance.
